Wow - long time no see (perhaps that should be "no post")! Just busy, busy, busy!! But . . . moving on - My sister and I have finally gotten a booth at the Garden Center Antique Store - we are calling it "The Junque Sisters" - we are a little bit antique, a little bit handmade, a little bit hippie, a little bit holiday, a little bit shabby chic, a little bit vintage! That just about covers everything! But we felt we needed that sort of booth since our town is so small - a little bit for everybody! Here's our sign with thanks to ArtChix Studio for the images used for the paper dolls (our senior pictures - lol)!

Sorry - not a great pic. To make the sign, my brother cut the wood - we slapped a thin layer of white paint on it - cut the letters from some scrapbook paper, then glued and glittered them - next we cut paper doll parts from ArtChix Studios and added copies of our senior pictures for the faces - lastly, we added the computer generated words, antique, handmade, hippie, holiday, shabby chic, and vintage! Not too shabby, huh!!

Great to be back! Peace, Love, and Junque!

Christmas Home Tour 2011

The greatest thing about being on the home tour is waking up Monday morning to a clean and completely decorated house!!!! The turnout appeared to be a little down this year - but the folks who came were super nice! I love my chair - it's a vintage 60s that I picked up at a yard sale for $30 and had re-upholstered. I'll post some pics between now and Christmas! Now - to the studio to work!

Peace,
Donna

Intown Zombie League

Tuesday
August 10, 2010

I know it's a little early to be thinking of Halloween. . . but the weather has been super humid and hotter than damn it!! So prowling through some photos from last Halloween I found this one - my favorite! These are members of the Intown Zombie League for Rockwood! The Intown Zombie League is responsible for the downtown festivities for Halloween. After all, Halloween is less than three months away - need to make plans soon for my costume. Anyways!! Just thinking of Halloween made me feel a little cooler. Thanks Jim, Mike, and Mark for the fab photo! I'm staying cool by thinking of football - fall leaves - black - orange - witches - zombies, etc.
I'm pondering (I do like that word.) - - - time to make some witchy button fairies and plan my costume. . .hmmmm?? vamp, slutty witch, sexy zombie! Any ideas from out there in bloggerland!

Peace,
Donna

Daddy's Dress

Friday
June 25, 2010

My niece, Sophie, loves this dress made from one of her dad's favorite shirts. It's made just like a pillowcase dress - with some adjustments. I cut off the sleeves and then cut straight across for the top of the dress. I was lucky because the pocket was located in a perfect position. I didn't have to remove the pocket and put it somewhere else. And, of course, just like any pillowcase dress - she can wear it for years. Don't you think it's perfect for summer wear! The shirt was purchased somewhere in the Caribbean - beachy, beachy!!! (Not the greatest photo I have ever taken!)

Button Fairies

June 14, 2010

"Hand in hand, with Fairy grace,
Will we sing and bless this place." (shakespeare)

This is a button fairy of my mom - Christine! I made this for one of my sisters. Now the other two want one. Some of the old buttons belonged to my grandmother, Catherine. All button fairies need names - doncha think??

What childhood would be complete without the enchanting and ephemeral world of fairyland - the snow-queen, Glinda, the Fairy Godmother, and those pixies, elves, dwarfs, magicians, wizards, monsters, (one could go on and on. . . So here are a few button fairies - my tribute to an ageless artform!

Erin Go Bragh - Ireland Forever

June 2, 2010

What a beautiful country Ireland is! Loved the people, loved the architecture, loved the landscape, loved the food - but most of all loved the Guinness. I drank the nectar of the gods on hallowed ground. How fabulous was that!
